Having now obtained a manual have decided to experiment [slightly] and delve into the workings of my 7000, I know and can alter the bass and drums [and of course the parts 1,2,and 3]. of the inbuilt styles and sounds. However I find I cannot find a way to alter/edit the drums and bass on, for example, the bass and drum sounds of the Summer series I have downloaded. And what channel should the bass appear on the parts listing in the mixer?? Replies would be gratefully recieved. Anniesboy 68

Re: Drums and bass editing/changing

Hi Anniesboy 68,

It's great to see you delving into the features! You're referring to the SOUND ARRANGER which is a brilliant feature that everyone should get to know. It lets you change the Sounds that are used in the built-in Rhythms. Unfortunately, this feature doesn't work with Custom Styles and Composers. Technics programmers were of the opinion that it wasn't necessary because you are free to edit every little function of these yourself. However, it's not so simple:

If you want to edit the Sounds in a Composer then you have to edit each and every Fill-in, Intro, ending and variation. There are 20 in total. So, changing these is slightly tedious to say the least but it can be done. This is one of the reasons that our Styles here take so long to do. To change every sound in every variation involves on average 20x8=160 button presses! Have a look at the Composer section in your manual for guidance on how to do that and let me know if you need help with it.

The only other way is to use a program on your PC. Styleworks is able to change the Sounds and that's what I use for most of the Styles. It still involves a lot of work but it is way easier on the PC. Styleworks is 100 Euro for the Technics version and 200 Euro for the Univeral version, from EMC Software. I would guess that one Style takes about 20 to 30 minutes to change and fine-tune on the keyboard and that reduces to about 10 to 15 minutes including fine-tuning on the Keyboard if you're using Styleworks.

Many of the Styles Series have imperfections and the expectation is that Members will tune the Styles that they like best for their own needs. Over time I'll improve all of the Series with new versions but sadly there aren't enough hours in the day!

I'm currently working on a new range of Pro Songs and Pro Styles to be launched later in the year. One of the features of these is that you will be able to change the accompaniment Sounds quickly and easily because I've come up with some innovative ways to do that. There will be a charge for these due to the licensing costs and paying for professional musicians to create them with me but there will be a discount for VIP Members such as yourself. I am really excited about these new Songs! I'll be putting a list up later today or tomorrow for everyone to vote for their favourites. They take a long time to create so I would like to release them in the order that people want them most.

I hope that partly answers your question at least.... you might have a bit of work ahead so prioritise your favourites smiling

Best wishes,
Mike

Umm!!! dont think I will proceed on that basis, but thanks for the reply, even on a Sunday!!!!!!!!. Actually the summer series I mentioned can be altered, it was the Style serivesY2 I should have posted that I cannot. However, as I have said I will leave well alone, it was just a thought tinkering about on the instrument. Hope your cold has abated by now. anniesboy68 [Dave]

Hi Dave,

Much better thanks! I see where you're coming form now. If you're using Y2 All Custom Styles loaded into Rhythm Memory you can't change them. Use the individual Composer Styles instead. If the overall balance means that the accompaniment is too loud use the accompaniment volume slider next to the main volume slider. But you have to adjust that every time you load a new Style because it resets, it doesn't stay in the position you put it in, that's why there is an LED light above it.

If you're using any of the Styles Series and want to adjust accompaniment volumes individually, make sure that the MSA is turned off and then change the volumes and set a Panel Memory. Save your adjusted Style in order to recall in future.

Cheers,
Mike

Press the Other Parts button to the left of the display.

And don't forget the Help button, there's some good stuff in there. Sometimes the Help has a few pages which is not obvious.
