Greetings Everyone!

Need some help. I got some songs recorded from my Technics KN3000 decades ago and it's been faulty since about 5 years ago. Having no way of playing back on the KN3000. Is there any way I can extract the midi data from the files to be play on my other instruments or DAW? ( Currently own Yamaha PSR-910 and Motif XF? I had the files rescued to my laptop from the floppy disk before my keyboard crash.

Understand the files composition of the KN3000 contains a few extension. CMP, LSW, SEQ, SQF, TM & MSP. Of which SEQ is the sequencer data. Is it possible to read from any DAW or convert in to playable midi files? Instrument assignment to track is not an issue now. Only the sequencer data is require.

Thanks!
Lawrence

Re: Extracting midi data from KN3000 files

HI Lawence, As you are aware the KN3000 could have saved the Technics files as MIDI files if it was still working, however if you have the Technics files on your laptop I may be able to convert them to midi files as I have a wide range of Technics keyboards in my music room , this includes a KN3000 so I could transfer them over to Midi copies, have you created any composer patterns? or just used standard patterns ?
If you wish to take up my offer you will need to use something like Dropbox to send the files as most Email services do not allow the inclusion of ".MSP" files as they are seen as a Windows installer and as such are blocked. but Dropbox will send them even better if you can ZIP the files before sending.
Regards John.

PS. see my profile as to my qualifications on Technics.

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply.I will PM you a couple of songs for your assistances to convert into midi. Btw, will KN3000 files play on a KN6000? I may be able to buy a used KN6000. Hoping that it still available. Thanks again!

Re: Extracting midi data from KN3000 files

your KN3000files should work in the KN6000,a little adjustment of levels may be needed also the the KN6000 uses NX sound so in some cses editing is required due to the octave of some voices differs but this is not a major problem. One thing I would recommend is make both Technics files of seqquences and also save them as midi files{subject to not using auto acc,) this gives a better set of options.
Regards John.
PS. look forward to seeing the files anyway.

Hi John, how do I share the zip files to you? I have created a Drop-box account and share the files. New to Drop-box. Thanks!
