I have had my KN7000 since 2002 and have not been able to change my mic setting and freeze it, I don't use it because I have to change it every time I load an SMF file.

I have set it up and gone to Customize/Data Protection and changed Mic settings to ON. It seems to save it, but when I go back, it is 60/80 again.

What am I doing wrong ?

Re: KN7000 Mic Setting

Hi Bernie,

Press and hold the panel memory SET button.

The default setting should be EXPAND, go to page 2 and press the DISPLAY HOLD button.

In the right hand column scroll down to MIC and change the setting from OFF to ON.

Now select one of the Panel Memories.

Make the adjustments to your Mic and then Set the same Panel Memory.

You'll need to do this for each Panel Memory and don't forget to save the results on SD Card for recall.

It would be a good idea to do the same procedure in your Custom Panel button because those settings never get overwritten.

Before doing any of the above, personally, I would save my work and then initialise the keyboard so that you're starting from a 'fresh' setup.

Let us know how you're getting on.

Re: KN7000 Mic Setting

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your fine instructions that I am sure is the answer to my problem as I described. However, I neglected to mention that all of my songs are saved in Technics Extended mode with mic settings included. Since I quit using the KN7000 mic jack at the start in 2000, I paid no mind to the fact that I was saving default settings with every song(1000's).

I did as instructed, but the Data Protection does not freeze my settings. I re-saved the files needed for today, and suppose I will have to do the same with others if I want to use the keyboard for vocals, as the quality is very good when all that heavy reverb is reduced.

Thanks to you, I can at least load, hit PM 1, and I am set.

Re: KN7000 Mic Setting

Hi Bernie,

I THINK that I understand what is happening now. Your Extended mode already had MIC set to ON?

If so, try setting it to OFF, so that it is not conflicting with your Data Protection MIC setting.

See if that helps for some of the Songs you have previously saved.

Does the problem only occur when you load MIDI files? Or when you load Technics files too?

Cheers,
Mike

Re: KN7000 Mic Setting

Hi Mike

If I use SD Sound the settings hold, but not in Technics mode. I have tried all kinds of combinations among Data Protection, Extended menu, and PM, and am convinced that once you save a song as I have, you need to re-save,period. This was the general opinion before, but I thought I would revisit the situation.

On most of my gigs, I would have to use a mixer anyway, so nothing lost.

Thank you for your help.

Bernie
