Hi
I have a KN 7000 keyboard, have bought a USB 3.5 floppy disc diskette, I have connected to laptop using Windows 7 the USB disk opened, but got error message couldn't play music due to the following software files not available CMP, LSW, PMT, SQT, TM, then windows Installer patch.
Can anybody please advise where I go next to get this music onto my laptop?
Thank you in anticipation of your support
Kind regards
Danny

Re: Floppy disc music transfer to laptop

Hi Danny, Sorry for the delay in replying the little Gremlins have been causing some problems with the site servers. Now to address your problem, the files you are seeing are Technics files, .cmp being the composer file, .tm being the sound edit memory file, etc. These files are the ones the keyboard uses and are not audio or midi files, and as such will not work on your Laptop. To transfer you audio music you need to record it . Depending on which operating system your Laptop is using depends if you can use the Audio Recorder that came with the KN7000 on CD rom. which is on the site to download however please this was produced in 2002 when the KN7000 came out. I use "Audacity" as my recording program, easy to use and it is Free !!! this youalow you to record your music as an Audio file to play on your audio devices. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to come back with them.
Best regards John

Re: Floppy disc music transfer to laptop

Dear John,

thank you so much for your comprehensive answer to my question, However, my sincere apologies, I have made such a stupid error, the model of my Technics Keyboard is an sx-KN5000 not as I indicated KN 7000! I have looked at the keyboard physically which doesn't show or refer to any audio recorder programme, what does this now indicate in response to my question?

Once again apologies for my basic error.

Kind regards

Danny

Hi Danny
You will have to record your music from your KN5000 to your lapyop using some simple free software like 'Audacity' whilst you have a lead connecting the two machines to each other.
